dancing in 7 Elvis Presley films, international touring with various dance companies, a variety of television appearances, summer stock and Las Vegas revues.
CARYN DAVIDSON recently completed the yoga teacher training course at the White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara. She has been inspired by Max Thomas of Living Yoga in Yucca Valley, and by her earlier teachers Paula Jeane and Geoffrey Earendil, and by the Sivananda Yoga Center in Los Angeles. Caryn hopes to prove the theory that it's never too late to become a yoga teacher. ELLIE SMITH is an experienced yoga teacher of 12 years. She received teacher’s training in the Iyengar method of yoga from both Peter Sterios and Shandor Remete. Ellie also studied with Dr. Larry Payne, for one year, learning the basics of Yoga Therapy. Students in Ellie’s classes receive gentle guidance in the practice of yoga techniques for strengthening the body and mind and for moving toward self-discovery. Asanas are given in graduated levels, from the basics to more advanced forms. Students enjoy a chance to practice yoga mindfully, without harm to self, and with a sense of humor and appreciation. PATRICIA THOMPSON has received 200 hours of training from the Sivananda Ashram in Grass Valley, CA. As well as 200 hours training from Yoga Yoga in Austin, TX. JONATHON BUTTON Jonathan began to study yoga growing up overseas as the son of an American diplomat. Places of study included American International School in Israel, Pashupatinath Temple, Nepal, Sri Aurobindo Ashram, India, and Sophia University, Japan. In 1975 he met his teacher, Yogi Bhajan in New Mexico and began teaching Kundalini yoga. He was certified in 1998. Since then he has created his own unique practice while teaching in San Diego. JANICE DOTY Pask first received formal training in meditation over thirty years ago. She has a Masters degree in History and Phenomenology of Religion from Graduate Theological Union. Janice attended the Time, Space, and Knowledge Teacher Training program at the Nyingma Institute in Berkeley, CA (established by Tarthang Tulku, a Tibetan teacher). Since her introduction to mindfulness meditation over 20 years ago, she has attended numerous retreats to deepen her practice and understanding. She has completed Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction professional training classes, including one taught by internationally renowned Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn. Her spiritual journey has also included explorations into various forms of Hinduism and mystical Christianity. Throughout her journey, Janice has seen first-hand how different people resonate with different meditation and spiritual practices. A variety of styles and approaches will be explored in this class. RAY JAYNE FLORES has embraced yoga exploration for nine years. She taught on Catalina Island for four years until her move to the Yucca Valley a year ago. She attended Pranayama Weekend at the White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara to celebrate her 50TH birthday in 2005 and returned for the teachers training program with Ganga White and Tracey Rich March 2007. She was again drawn to the White Lotus to continue her education at the Therapeutic Yoga Training with Cheri Clampett and Arturo Peal earlier this year. Her classes invite individual exploration within a nurturing and collective framework. She aims for a creative and intuitive flow and takes her inspiration from many sources along the way. She is thrilled to find so many talented teachers here in the high desert and honored to share in the yoga adventure with all who practice here. Life goes better with Yoga! Gentle yoga with Ray Jayne honors the individual experience within a supportive and collective framework. Includes deep connection to breath, visioning, restorative and therapeutic movement and relaxation. Will strive to encourage the joy of yoga, life and the ability to access universal resources. ROSA FICARA, Salsa Aerobic Instructor, Ex-foreign language high school teacher turned chef of Ricochet went to UC Riverside for foreign languages Italian, French, and Spanish and in travelling discovered a love for foreign cuisine and cooking. Attended Cordon Bleu California School of Culinary Arts in Pasadena from 2001-2002 returned to Joshua Tree four years ago and is now loving nourishing locals and tourists at Ricochet with good wholesome gourmet food. In Los Angeles, Rosa started salsa and latin dance training and competed in Palm Springs two years ago. Rosa teaches Salsa Aerobics uses basic Salsa dance steps, Cha Cha Cha and other Latin dance styles to get your heart rate going and your body moving to spicy, Latin music. Rosa starts with the basics, so no previous experience is needed. Burn off those calories by learning the dynamic, seductive moves of Salsa dancing! SARA MAHAN, RYT, is a graduate of the 400 hour, Anusara-influenced yoga teacher training program at Willow Street Yoga Center in Takoma Park, MD. Also a certified massage therapist, she skillfully weaves an understanding of anatomy and precise physical alignment into her classes as well as encouraging her students to express their poses fully from the inside out. Off the mat, she spends her time learning from her curious and delighted toddler. She thanks her principle teachers Jenny Otto, Suzie Hurley, Maria Hamburger and Kate MIller. Gentle Yoga with Sara is a therapeutic yoga class focusing on opening heart and shoulders, building strength and discovering form and alignment in fundamental yoga postures. Class will include warm-ups, gentle and restorative postures, active standing poses, yogic breathing, and guided deep relaxation. Poses will use a variety of props, allowing students to experience the stretching and strengthening benefits of yoga regardless of their current physical condition. All Levels LAURAN CALLAN, is a certified instructor (Dance Educators of America) in all formal dance genres – ballet, modern, tap, as well as classical and contemporary jazz. She specializes in making dance accessible to students at every level from beginning to advanced with special emphasis placed on the needs of adult recreational dancers. She is a devoted advocate for bringing the expressive and artistic aspects of dance to students of all ages. A perpetual dance student herself, Lauran continues to train in and teach classical ballet and has received positive reviews for her solo work in recent performances with the Desert Chamber Ballet. |
